I recently wrote an article about Ed Crawford, a South Side man who worked for more than a year to get a historical marker for the Battle of Rosillo a better home:
Crawford was disturbed when a year ago, he drove by its South W.W. White location and saw that the marker had fallen into neglect.
“Over the years, it’s been knocked down and vandalized,” Crawford said. “It is also unsafe for anyone to stop there and read about. You can get run over. This isn’t right. This is our history, the people of San Antonio.”
Through his hard work, Crawford was able to find the marker a more suitable place at The Republic Golf Course off of Southeast Military Drive. Crawford, who described himself as just a regular guy, shows that if you have determination, you can achieve great things.
