I like this story. I heard about Peggy Llewellyn and assigned the story to one of my writers. The reporter, Miranda K., did a good job.
"When most 7-year-old girls were begging their parents for a kitten or Barbie Doll dream house,
Peggy Llewellyn was begging for a motorcycle.
“It’s something that was part of our lives since we were little,” said Peggy, who now several years older, grew up on the city’s Southeast Side and graduated from East Central High School. Llewellyn’s love of motorcycles has evolved into a groundbreaking career as a drag bike racer on the National Hot Rod Association circuit. In 2001, Llewellyn became the NHRA’s first female African-American pro competitor."
